What drives the inspection?
Purchase order/contract, drawing/model, specification, BOM, control/inspection plan, customer quality clauses, critical characteristics, supplier performance, source/traceability, counterfeit risk and previous defects.
A risk-based inspection, verification and release tool for aerospace, defence, space and other critical industries. Build the inspection from the actual product, drawing, specification, purchase order, control plan and customer requirements — not from a one-size-fits-all checklist.
Purchase order/contract, drawing/model, specification, BOM, control/inspection plan, customer quality clauses, critical characteristics, supplier performance, source/traceability, counterfeit risk and previous defects.
Verification can include documentation review, identity/configuration checks, visual examination, dimensional inspection, functional/test verification, material/certificate review, authenticity checks and statistical acceptance.
Record what was checked, requirement/acceptance criterion, result, sample size, instrument/equipment where relevant, inspector, date and traceability. A tick with no basis is weak evidence.
Select the type of product received to load the appropriate inspection requirements and product-specific checklist.
The selected family determines the additional checks loaded alongside the common Goods In verification requirements.
Consider tighter verification for new/changed suppliers, first deliveries, safety/mission-critical items, poor supplier performance, suspect documentation, broken traceability, counterfeit risk, changed manufacturing source, recurring defects, concessions, long storage, damaged packaging or customer-mandated inspection.
AS9100 / EN9100 family: use applicable purchasing and external-provider controls, including defined verification activities. AS9138 / EN9138: statistical product acceptance methods where invoked/adopted. ISO 2859-1: attribute sampling schemes indexed by AQL for lot-by-lot inspection. AS5553 / AS6174: counterfeit avoidance considerations for EEE/materials where applicable. NASA-STD-8739.10: EEE parts assurance for NASA spaceflight/critical ground equipment. Also apply the current drawing, product/process specification, PO/contract, customer clauses, statutory/regulatory requirements and your QMS procedures. Always verify the current revision and contractual applicability before use.
Status each check and record the actual result/evidence. Add custom checks for drawing or contract-specific requirements.

Select the sampling framework first. The fields below change to match AQL, LQ, variables, aerospace statistical acceptance, customer-defined or 100% inspection approaches.
Record the acceptance protection actually authorised for each defect class. Do not assume generic Critical/Major/Minor values apply to every product or customer.
| Defect class | Acceptance basis | Value / level | Sample size | Ac | Re |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Critical Safety / mission / regulatory significance as defined | |||||
| Major | |||||
| Minor |
Attribute acceptance sampling for continuing lots using AQL-indexed plans. Record inspection level, normal/tightened/reduced status, plan type, code letter and the authorised sample/Ac/Re from the applicable controlled tables.
Attribute sampling for isolated or short-series lots, indexed by Limiting Quality (LQ). Do not present an AQL field as though it were an ISO 2859-1 continuing-lot plan.
Aerospace statistical product acceptance is risk-based. Record the approved method, quality/risk parameters, safety/critical-characteristic treatment, customer protection and procedure reference rather than treating AS9138 as a simple AQL lookup table.
Variables sampling uses measured data and statistical assumptions rather than simple conforming/nonconforming counts. Record the approved variables method and required distribution/variation basis.
Where the invoked system provides switching rules, record whether inspection is Normal, Tightened or Reduced and ensure changes are based on the prescribed history/rules—not inspector discretion.
Passing the numerical sampling rule is only one input. Documentation, traceability, configuration, special-process evidence and other mandatory requirements must also conform before release.
Complete the inspection and generate the report.
