What Contract Review Must Achieve

A controlled decision before accepting an obligation.
Contract review confirms that requirements are understood, differences are resolved, risks are identified, and the organisation has the technical capability, resources, capacity, approvals and controls needed to deliver conforming products or services on time.

Understand the requirement

Identify documented, implied, statutory, regulatory, technical, delivery and post-delivery requirements. Clarify ambiguity before acceptance.

Confirm capability

Review competence, equipment, capacity, tooling, software, inspection, test, special processes, suppliers and infrastructure.

Control risk

Identify unusual technology, compressed lead times, critical items, single-source dependencies, export restrictions and customer-specific obligations.

1. Capture

Record customer, enquiry, quotation, purchase order, drawing, specification and revision information.

2. Compare

Compare the order against the quotation and identify changed or newly introduced requirements.

3. Coordinate

Involve quality, engineering, production, purchasing, commercial, security and other applicable functions.

4. Decide

Accept, accept subject to agreed actions or clarification, or do not accept until risks are resolved.
